Dear all employees at the International Sámi Film Institute and participants at the opening of Duottar Studio.

What an achievement and Congratulations to the International Sámi Film Institute!

Today is also an exciting day for many Sámi film makers, they will have the chance to present their projects at “Our Stories – Our Future” seminar.  Good luck with your presentations!

Regarding the opening of the Duottar studio:

Hopefully this new studio will be an attractive workplace in the future! Those who work with film editing, will no longer have to travel to capitals like Oslo, Helsinki or Stockholm, - they can finish their projects here in Guovdageaidnu at Duottar Studio.

The studio is also part of a business development, filmmakers who work with creative projects, like film and storytelling, will be able to be part of the International Sámi Film Institute.   Sámediggi is supporting creative business projects.

I do look forward following the development of the International Sámi Film Institute, how this can give new possibilities for our film makers.  I am impressed to see all the Sámi film makers who are presenting their projects here today.

I really do hope that we soon can watch new series with Sámi topics for children and youth, including movies dubbed to Sámi languages, both South-, Lule- and North Sámi.

A global production from Walt Disney Animation based on a story from Sápmi- Frozen II is a good example of how to include Sámi experts, story tellers and musicians.

Director Ánne Lájlá Utsi uses the traditionally Sámi way of networking called verddestallan to manage communication and to build networks both locally, nationally, and internationally. This implements Sámi values when developing collaboration with both indigenous and non-indigenous film makers.

Briefly regarding education, I have recognized that Sámi oahpahusguovddáš in Inari/ Anár and Sámi allaskuvla in Guovdageaidnu are offering interesting and updated courses regarding film and storytelling this fall.  For Sámi youth, it is important to get a higher degree of film- and media studies.

I am also glad to see so many professional film makers here, both Sámi, Nordic, and international guests. Networking is important for filmmakers; new contacts might give new possibilities in the future!

Ollu giitu iežan bealis ja sávan lihkku Sámi Filbma Instituhttii. Sávan maid lihkku filbmabargiide geat odne dás muitalit iežaset filbmaprošeavttaid birra.  Giitu bovdejumis!
